Study in Singapore 2026: Student Guide

Singapore is an English-speaking study destination with 18 universities. The main city for students is Singapore itself, and international students use the Student Pass.

Classes and campus life are centered in Singapore, where the country’s universities are based. Institutions include Nanyang Technological University, National University of Singapore, Singapore University of Technology and Design, Singapore Management University, Singapore University of Social Sciences, and University of the Arts Singapore.

English is the language of daily life and study, so most new arrivals can expect to use it in lectures, administration, and everyday communication. The currency is SGD.

International students need a Student Pass. For housing, students should expect to arrange their own place to live in Singapore before or after arrival, depending on the university process they follow.

Singapore’s price level was 60% of the US level in 2023. For students arriving in their first term, the main adjustments are settling into study in English, completing Student Pass requirements, and getting organized around housing in the city.
