Fully-funded UK Master's and PhD scholarships for talented students from India and other Commonwealth nations.

Commonwealth Scholarships fund talented students from India and other Commonwealth countries to pursue fully-funded Master's and PhD study in the UK. They prioritise candidates who could not otherwise afford UK study and who will contribute to development in their home country.

Eligibility

  • Indian citizen (or refugee/British protected person) permanently resident in India.
  • Hold, by the start of the course, a first or upper second-class undergraduate degree (and a relevant Master's for PhD).
  • Unable to afford UK study without this funding.
  • Meet the specific requirements of the chosen course and pathway.

Benefits

  • Full tuition fees paid to the UK university.
  • A monthly living (maintenance) stipend.
  • Return airfare between India and the UK.
  • Thesis, study-travel and, where applicable, family allowances.

How to apply

  • Apply through a nominating body in India (or the eligible pathway) within the deadline.
  • Complete the Commonwealth Scholarship online application (EAS).
  • Provide your study/research proposal and references.
  • Secure UK university admission as required by the pathway.
  • Attend selection and complete pre-departure formalities on award.
