Study in Poland 2026: Universities and Student Visa
Poland has 138 universities, including Vistula University, AGH University of Science and Technology, and Adam Mickiewicz University of Poznan. For international students, the main visa route is the Student Visa (D-type).
The academic environment includes a wide range of institutions, from general universities to specialist schools such as agricultural universities. Examples include Polonia University in Czêstochowa, Agricultural University of Cracow, and Agricultural University of Lublin.
For everyday life, Poland’s price level was 45% of the US level in 2023. That can help with planning, but students should still budget carefully for housing, food, transport, and other living costs.
Students should expect to organize housing after arrival or alongside admission steps, with options shaped by the city and the university. A new international student will also need to make sure the Student Visa (D-type) is in order before starting studies.
In the first term, daily life is likely to center on settling into classes, getting used to the local routine, and managing practical tasks like registration and housing. Poland’s GDP per capita PPP was USD 41,060, and that gives a sense of the country’s economic context for student life.
