Post-Matric Scholarship for SC Students by National Scholarship Portal — Partial funding scholarship for Indian students

Overview

A central government scheme covering tuition and living costs for Scheduled Caste students in post-matriculation courses.

The Post-Matric Scholarship for Scheduled Caste students is one of the Government of India's largest support schemes, designed to reduce dropout at the post-matriculation stage by covering both tuition and living costs. It ensures that financial hardship does not stop SC students from completing higher education.

Eligibility

  • Belong to a Scheduled Caste as notified.
  • Family income below the ceiling notified for the scheme.
  • Enrolled in a recognised post-matriculation course (Class 11 onwards, including graduation and beyond).
  • Have not already availed an equivalent scholarship for the same course.

Benefits

  • Reimbursement of compulsory, non-refundable course fees.
  • A monthly maintenance allowance for the duration of the course.
  • Additional allowances for books, stationery and, where applicable, disability.
  • Paid directly into the student's own bank account.

How to apply

  • Register for a One-Time Registration (OTR) ID on the National Scholarship Portal (scholarships.gov.in) using your Aadhaar and mobile number.
  • Log in and select this specific scheme from the list of available scholarships.
  • Fill the application with your academic, income and bank details exactly as they appear on your documents.
  • Upload clear scans of all required documents within the size limits.
  • Submit before the deadline and note your application ID.
  • Track the status until your institute and the state/ministry verify it.
