Overview

The Karl Kessler Memorial Prize at The University of Queensland is offered by the University of Queensland (UQ) in Australia. It provides partial funding of AUD 1,500 to Masters students in Medicine (MBBS/MD) who have completed an elective in clinical infectious diseases, clinical microbiology, or public health. The prize was founded in 1992 as a memorial to Karl Kessler, a University medical student who passed away in 1989 during his last year of studies due to an infectious condition. To be eligible, candidates must be pursuing a Doctor of Medicine degree and have completed an elective in clinical infectious diseases, clinical microbiology, or public health, or other fields linked to infectious illnesses. The prize is open to all nationals and can be used at the University of Queensland. Applications are submitted online by the deadline, and require a 500-word essay summarizing your elective experiences, including your interest in infectious diseases and the benefits of the elective to your future aspirations.
