Overview

The Hertz Fellowship 2026 is offered by The Hertz Foundation to support PhD students in the applied physical and biological sciences, mathematics, and engineering. It provides full funding, including tuition, a stipend, and other benefits, with a total value of up to CAD 250,000 over five years. Eligibility is open to US nationals who are pursuing or planning to pursue a PhD in eligible fields at Johns Hopkins University, University of Southern California, University of Minnesota, or 47 other participating institutions. Applicants must meet the Hertz Foundation's eligibility criteria.
Applicants must satisfy the Foundation's requirements regarding academic status, field of study, and U.S. graduate study.

Benefits

Full funding covering tuition fees, a stipend, and other benefits.
Total value of up to CAD 250,000 over five years.
A $38,000 nine-month personal stipend per year.
A full tuition equivalent.
An additional $5,000 per year for Fellows with dependent children.
