Overview

The Croucher Scholarships for Doctoral Study 2027 are offered by the Croucher Foundation to support full-time doctoral research in Natural Sciences, Medicine, or Technology at approved universities outside Hong Kong. The scholarship provides full funding with a maintenance allowance of USD 38,850 per annum, along with tuition fees, airfare, and other allowances. Applicants must be permanent residents of Hong Kong and intend to pursue a PhD abroad. The scholarship is open to candidates who demonstrate strong academic and research potential. To apply, candidates must submit a proposal or video, letters of reference, and required documents through the online application system. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview in February/March 2026.

Eligibility

Applicants must be permanent residents of Hong Kong.
Applicants must intend to undertake full-time doctoral study or research outside Hong Kong.
Applicants must pursue research in Natural Sciences, Medicine, or Technology.
Applicants must demonstrate strong academic and research potential.

Benefits

USD 38,850 per year maintenance allowance.
Tuition and applicable college fees covered.
Premium economy airfare at the beginning and end of the scholarship.
USD 1,000 one-time arrival allowance.
Up to USD 2,000 per year academic development allowance.
Up to USD 2,000 per year medical insurance allowance.
Family allowance of up to USD 16,000 per year for the first child and USD 6,800 per year for each additional child.
Round-trip premium economy airfare for the Croucher Symposium.
USD 9,700 commencement award for thesis preparation and graduation travel expenses.
Additional allowance may be available for approved science education and community activities.

How to apply

Submit either a 1,000-word proposal or a 5-10-minute video recording addressing specific questions related to inspiring leadership and the significance of your achievements.
Send two signed letters of reference from referees directly to references@croucher.org.hk.
Upload required documents, including the proposal, academic transcripts, certificates, and proof of residency, to the online application system.
Short-listed candidates will be invited for an interview in February/March 2026.
